How Covid-19 lockdowns caused a surge in alcohol-related deaths but temporarily wiped out the flu

Alcohol-related deaths surged to a record high in 2021, during a year of long lockdowns in Sydney and Melbourne. Suicide deaths were more than double Covid deaths but there were very few flu fatalities.
