Price of milk is up 34%, cheese 17.9% and eggs 14.6% - as inflation reaches 40-year high

A slew of supermarket items have far outpaced the rate of inflation, with the cost of low fat milk rising by 34 per cent on average over the past 12 months, according to data from the ONS.
