It's easy to assume that everyone is on the same page about things like "how many tires go on a car" or "if it's okay to feed all the customers a little bleach." But put the wrong person in a role of professional authority and be amazed at the wondrously short-sighted things they're capable of. Sometimes it's just because a newbie doesn't know how things work, but other times it's someone failing to use even the smallest amount of common sense that results in confusing, laughable, and sometimes potentially life-threatening workplace foibles.
