British army chief demands plan to cut troop numbers to smallest size since Napoleonic era is halted

General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith appeared to hit out at Government plans to cut the number of troops in the army, saying Russia's invasion of Ukraine should give pause for thought before implementing them.
