Cats have been acclimating to the human households that bring them love and warmth for at least 12,000 years. In that time, housecats have come to love sitting in cardboard boxes and persuading belly rubs from anyone nearby, but even wild cats exhibit behaviors of their domesticated descendants. In 2008, an infant feline was found on the side of the road near Monticello in Central Virginia. With its eyes still closed, the kitten was not even a week old when he was taken by the human that found him. After a few weeks, however, they determined that what they were caring for was no house cat but a wild bobcat.Story written by Alex Lemieux.
