Rumours of the death of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency have been exaggerated, perhaps out of wishful thinking. But we now only have to wait and see if, in the coming weeks, the rise of regional currencies and commodity trading blocs mark the beginning of the end of dollar hegemony.
