Bonobos Adopt Strangers’ Babies, Scientists Say

Although there is evidence that adoption occurs in many species of animals, it is rare for scientists to actually observe adoption in the wild. Researchers studying bonobos in the Democratic Republic of the Congo say they observed something even more unusual.
