More than 20 people have died in ICE custody in the last 12 months - the highest toll in 15 years

Eight of the 21 detainee deaths registered by ICE during fiscal year 2020 were caused by COVID-19. A private jail contracted by ICE in Georgia reported three deaths due to the virus.
