Arizona death row inmate who beat strangled a woman to death with a telephone cord dies from COVID

Alfonso Salazar, 56, was on death row for murder and kidnapping and had been in hospital since April 21. Salazar was sentenced to death in 1988, convicted of murdering 83-year-old Sara Kaplan in 1986.
