UOB saw the sharpest decline amongst top active stocks with a 7.33% contraction.
The Straits Times Index ended 177.26 or 7.35% lower at 2,233.48.
The top active stocks were DBS, which fell 7.05%, Singtel, which slumped 5.39%, OCBC Bank, which dropped 6.58%, SGX, which slid 6.34%, and UOB with a 7.33% contraction.
The FTSE Mid Cap declined 7.13%, whilst the FTSE Small Cap slipped 8.43%.
