Amazon announced today that it’s planning to release a new stick-up Ring camera. It’ll come in two versions: wired and battery-powered. The wired version includes and Ethernet port. It’ll be released in black and white and works both indoors and outside. It’ll be available “later this year” for $179.99.
The news follows Amazon’s acquisition of Ring earlier this year for reportedly more than $1 billion. In addition to the new hardware, Amazon also announced new home security features built around Ring, including Ring Alarm. This will allow people who buy a Z-Wave lock from Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, or Danalock to unlock and lock their doors from the Ring app. People using the Schlage Connect or Danalock locks can also disarm their Ring...
