The Best Of New York Fashion Week: Runway & Street Style

This years NYFW was one for the books—Rhianna debuted one of the most inclusive and progressive shows ever to grace the catwalk, Marc Jacobs reverted back to his love of being fashionably late, and the People’s Princess Cardi B publicly confronted rival rapper Nicki Minaj at Harper Bazaar’s annual Fashion Week Icon party. But perhaps the best part, other than Rihanna’s all embracing line up, which included women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities—even two gorgeous pregnant women—was the street style that graced the bustling NY streets. NY’s street style has always debuted some of the most interesting interpretations of runway trends, and this year is no different. Although fresh-off the runway looks are always more fabulous than your average ready to wear lines, New Yorkers prove that you don’t have to know the Designers to dress like you do. And best of all—you can cop some of these styles at your local Nordy’s Bright Lights One of the best trends to hit New York Fashion Week was the bright yellows that graced the runways. Many designers delivered a sneak peak of what to expect for spring 2019, and we’re here for it. Every shade from marigold to sunshine yellow hit the scene last week, colors that thankfully compliment most seasons. Oscar de la Renta featured a gorgeous marigold gown for look six, while Pyer Moss sang tribute to African American culture with his off the shoulder draped yellow gown. Pamela Roland showed us how a yellow maxi can light up a room even in a more muted hue. Luckily, the trends from this spring 2019 Fashion Week have already made their way to ready to wear, and you can snag these luscious colors in just about anything thanks to Nordstroms comprehensive look-books. As you can see here, yellow is making a statement this season and you can make it your own. Check out this Cinq à Sept Mathieu Velvet Jacket perfect for both fall and spring. Or this Elizabeth and James Clementine Ribbed Space Dye Wool Dress which mends spring 2019 vibes with wearable winter fabrics. Another item Nordy’s is featuring right now is this timeless silk slip dress by the brand Off-White.  Golden hues aren’t the only trend we saw during this years NY Fashion Week, either. Another fan favorite has to be this years must have shoes, ranging from kitten heels to statement boots. One of the best things about shoes from fashion week is they can easily be rotated through multiple seasons with the right styling–it’s called ballin’ on a budget folks, and here’s how to do it. Let’s take a peak at what we think is the best of the best for spring 2019: Starting with statement boots, Christian Cowen gave us a glamorous take on cowboy boots, proving spring and summer can easily transition into fall and winter–it’s all about timeless style, not quick fading trends. Another fabulous design comes from Pyer Moss, a sheer ankle boot with a feather trim. This boot is obviously perfect for spring and summer, but can easily transition to colder temps with the right stocking. Last but not least, Marc Jacobs gives us an ultra swanky sling back pump with a patten leather contoured bow. For warmer times this shoe offers a sexy elongated foot, and during winter it can easily be styled with a sparkle stocking, like pictured here. Of course, there was much to be seen during New York Fashion Week, but there a few key takeaways. Minimalism has always made a statement on the runway, but this year it’s like never before. From necessary necklines to timeless trims, this years street-style has us in awe. Let’s take a look at some of the best of what the street had to offer:
